Garrett M. here, but they call me “Ze-Chevalier.” I am one of the designers here at Frontline Games. Recently I have been working on some new Cyber Orks set in a Sci-Fi futuristic time period. I decided to make these guys as mean and as terrifying as possible (still a work in progress) and equip them with a ramshackle inventory of highly advanced gear that may or may not have been made for them…some gear possibly salvaged from the aftermath of a fresh battlefield (you know how orcs are).
I wanted these guys to be able to work with the games we already love to play, while also having their own unique design, so I started with my own vision and drew inspiration from other designs, settling on these hulking, murderous ape-like creatures with an almost intelligent-looking, sci-fi rugged inventory (in other words, a hodge-podge of weapons).
I started by creating just some shoulder pads to accessorize some other models we already have, then I set out to do the same with some new Ork heads. Before I knew it, I was creating my own Cyber-Ork miniature with various interchangeable body parts that I can mix-match and refine until I have an entire army.
From there I created an Ork leader which is made of almost entirely new parts. He is larger and clearly more dangerous than the other Orks (still working out some details like the teeth), decked out with gear and a flag attached to his back so there’s no mistaking who’s the boss!
I really enjoyed making the designs in 3D and enjoyed even more seeing them come to life on the gaming table (My Dad REALLY likes them).
I enjoyed this project immensely. Look forward to seeing what you all think as well.

The Orc Warboss really liked the way Lance painted his miniatures, so he “persuaded” him to paint his girlfriend. Better not mess up! Run, Lance, run!
