The SU-122 (Samokhodnaya Ustanovka—meaning self-propelled carriage) is a Soviet assault gun. This vehicle was used as direct fire support and proved very successful in combat. It targeted enemy strongholds, and when necessary, engaged enemy heavy tanks. It is reported to have blown the turrets off tanks such as Tigers when a direct hit occurred with its high-caliber 122mm howitzer.
